In Sulaimani city, more than 10 tons/day of spent bleaching clay is spilled to Tanjero landfills from seven lubricating oil re-refining factories. The clay is used in purification of about 100 tons/day of used lubricating oil, producing more than 3500 tons of spent bleaching clay in a year which contains 700–1400 tons of oil.
