Columbite (Fe, Mn) (Nb, Ta) 2 O 6 concentrates tantalum and niobium in the Zashikhinsky massif ore. It occurs in all facial varieties of granites. It produces both large (2–5 mm), and small (less 0.5 mm) black grains. In places it is found as flattened elongated pinacoid {010} and prismatic {001} crystals (Fig. 1 ).
