Hugh Jaleak. Flexseal adaptor should hopefully seal it or a McAlpine DC-1 would be my choice, it'll fit inside the existing pipe removing any danger of an external leak. Be careful cutting the asbestos, mask is a must as you dont want to be breathing in any dust. Dampen it down as you cut to reduce dust hazard anyway.

20 February at 8:20AM. Sounds unlikely. Any contaminated land is usually identified by the local authority and clean up of the contamination is normally specified in the permissions to build. Can't really think how the whole area could have asbestos contaminated soil unless it's a former factory of some sort.

You can get a cast iron to plastic pipe soil adaptor (from Graham's or City plumbing), it will have a rubber fin on one end like on WC pan connector and the other end will accept 110mm pipe.
